在位于赞比亚腹地的南卢安瓜国家公园，花豹、鬣狗、杂色狼和狮子共同生活在卢安瓜河畔一片名为恩塞富的葱郁之地，这里生机勃勃，是养育后代的理想家园，因此，这里的生存空间十分拥挤。 花豹母亲奥林巴在恩塞富中心地带养育幼崽，杂色狼雌性首领斯托姆率领族群突然闯入，打破了原有的平静。而斯托姆的杂色狼族群很快就要直面重返此地的狮群。狮群虽袭击了雌性鬣狗腾塔的家族，但即便是狮子也得时刻保持警惕，尤其是它们自己也在养育幼崽。 四个动物家族虽是凶猛的捕食者，但《动物王国》展现了它们温柔的一面：鬣狗妈妈哺育幼崽的时间远超其他捕食者；花豹妈妈奥林巴允许幼崽拿一头脾气暴躁的河马练习捕猎技能；杂色狼对受伤同伴展现出超乎寻常的关怀。动物家族内部同样暗流涌动——花豹母女最终竟成为彼此最大的竞争对手。同时，自然力量也在不断重塑动物们的生存环境：野火、洪水与一条滋养万物的河流主宰着这里的一切。在恩塞富，四个动物家族的命运早已紧密交织。多年来，各个家族兴衰沉浮，究竟谁能成为这片瑰丽王国的主宰？
