【紅色羊齒草的故鄉】（Where the Red Fern Grows）在美國是由迪士尼發行ＤＶＤ等影音產品，但是本片其實有點命多舛，當初原本於１９９９年就製作拍攝，但後來由於製片公司經營上發生問題，本片就被束之高閣，直到２００３年５月才首度在 Tribeca 影展上推出，影音產品的發行代理權利，則是由美國迪士尼拿下，於２００４年推出。 【紅色羊齒草的故鄉】 改編自 Wilson Rawls 暢銷多年的原名小說，過去早在１９７４年這部小說就曾經被搬上大銀幕，該部同名的老電影在台灣的譯名卻是【風雨奪標】。新版本的【紅色羊齒草的故鄉】同樣是改編自原本的名著題材。本故事的背景是發生在全世界最棒的浣熊狩獵區──奧沙克山區，主角則是一位十歲的男孩 Billy Coleman ，他一直渴望能夠擁有屬於自己的獵犬，經過辛苦的工作，Billy 終於如願以償，得到了他的一對獵犬－ Old Dan 以及 Little Ann ，在爺爺和爸爸的幫忙下，他將兩隻獵犬訓練成受狩獵高手，男孩與狗在朝夕相處之下，也培養出堅定不移的深厚情誼。為了贏得當地人舉辦的浣熊狩獵比賽， Billy 和爺爺、爸爸帶著狗兒們進入山區，不料爺爺卻不慎傷了腳，而且為了抓到決定勝負關鍵的浣熊，兩隻狗兒們義無反顧地衝入暴風雪中，擔憂狗兒安危的 Billy 也隨後而來，卻遇到山區最令人膽寒的山獅，自己也陷入險境，幸好狗兒們及時相救他才能脫險…片中男孩與狗之間的真情頗為動人，觀眾隨著主角 Billy 一同經歷生命中的歡喜與悲傷，體會生命與成長的課題。 本片由 Lyman Dayton 以及 Sam Pillsbury 共同執導，同時他們也是本片的編劇。在片中飾演主角男孩的是 Joseph Ashton ，他的父親以及爺爺則分別由 Dave Matthews 和 Dabney Coleman 擔任，母親則由 Renee Faia 擔任，其他演員還包括有 Ned Beatty 、Mac Davis 、Kris Kristofferson …等等，本片的配樂部分則是由 Jeff Cardoni 所負責。本片曾經在 Heartland 影展中獲得 Crystal Heart Award 的殊榮。

曙光毛纺厂精织车间主任老胡（陈强饰），一向埋头苦干但思想僵化，觉得工作就得埋头苦干而搞技术革新是投机取巧。女儿嘉英（张金玲饰）是精织车间的挡车工，她正与车间的修理工郁林（汪用桓 饰）相恋。在车间党委书记老齐的启发下，郁林和嘉英等几个青年工人想把光电管装到织机上，利用“光电探纬设计方案”以提高产品质量，减轻劳动强度，所以和老胡发生了矛盾，连郁林为老胡理发都搞得不欢而散。 而老胡的儿子嘉奇（陈佩斯饰）因为在文革中没有受到良好教育而有些好逸恶劳，但本性不乏闪光点，一次与朋友大阮、张岚（刘晓庆饰）在逛公园的过程中奋不顾身跳入水中救根本没落水的孩子，这些却给孩子的姑姑一一新华书店的营业员林小红（方舒饰）留下了好印象。 另一方面老胡也在工作中有所触动希望去书店找一些技术资料进行学习，却被工作态度蛮横的张岚搞得争吵起来，林小红出面解决了问题。而胡嘉奇应张岚的邀请教大家舞蹈，不仅满口白字，譬如“如火如茶”“披荆斩辣”，而且动作夸张僵硬，只有小红作为手风琴手默默鼓励和支持他，这使得嘉奇对她产生了好感，并决心用学习使得自己进步。 经过周折，光电探纬仪试验成功。“十一”前夕，郁林和嘉英喜结良缘。老胡请来张岚，嘉奇请来女友小红，张岚、小红一齐来到老胡家中，老胡、胡婶错把张岚当作未来的儿媳。大阮赶来接走张岚，这时，大家才知闹了个笑话。小红和嘉奇幸福地依偎在一起。值得一提的是电影中客串扮演摄影师的正是已故著名相声表演艺术家马季。 本片于1980年 获第三届电影百花奖最佳配角奖（刘晓庆），文化部1979年优秀影片奖、青年优秀创作奖（王好为、张金玲、刘晓庆）。

Synopsis Do-seong (Yoo Min) is a child monk who lives at a small mountain temple with the head monk (Byeon Ki-jong), learning the teachings of Buddha. He becomes attached to a young widow (Choi Eun-hee) who comes to pray at the temple, and the childless widow entreats the head monk to let her raise Do-seong as her own son. Conflict ensues when Do-seong's real mother (Kim Seon-young) appears, but she leaves the temple for the sake of her son's future. On the day the widow is to take the child down from the mountain, the head monk discovers that Do-seong has killed a bird by ensnaringit in a trap and decides not to let the boy go into the secular world. When Do-seong finds out that his real mother has been to the temple, he sets out to find her. Notes A film that has garnered recognition for its cinematography and direction by eliminating sentimentality and unaffectedly capturing the quiet life of a mountain temple. A Hometown in Heart demonstrates the camera technique and directorial skill of movies that appeared after the liberation of Korea. A Hometown in Heart, adapted from playwright Ham Se-deok's A Little Monk (Dong-seung), was hailed upon its release as a masterpiece that marked a new pinnacle in Korean moviemaking after the liberation. Eschewing new-school sentimentality to quietly express a boy's longing for maternal love, the film unfolds the everyday lives of three generationsthe head monk, a young monk, and a little child monkagainst the backdrop of a quiet temple in the mountains. The long shots utilized by director of cinematography Han Hyung-mo to capture the beautiful scenery of the mountain temple from a distance received great critical acclaim at the time. Also, each of the film's characters is convincingly portrayed through the skillful direction of Yoon Yong-kyu. In particular, the scene which expresses Do-seong's desperate yearning for a mother's love and his birth mother's past visit to the temple by combining them into a dream sequence reveals deep consideration for articulating story and emotion via a compressed visual grammar without tending toward sentimentalism. The movie's final scene, in which Do-seong awakens from his dream and sets off down the path in search of his mother, is both touching and beautiful. The film also features Choi Eun-hee, in the part of the young widow who warmly embraces Do-seong with her love, in one of her first roles. Afterword - Lee Kang-su, writing under the pseudonym of Kwak Il-byeong, first adapted playwright Ham Se-deok's A Little Monk (Dong-seung) into a screenplay, which was then shot for the silver screen with additional embellishments by the director.

Novelist Joseph Shearing specialized in using real cases which took place in Victorian England, altering them for fictional purposes. MOSS ROSE in 1947 was the first film to be made from his novels, then in 1948 two of his works were adapted for the screen, this film and THE MARK OF CAIN. The movie stars Todd as a recently widowed missionary returning to her home in England from Jamaica. During the voyage, she meets Milland, a charming though dangerous rascal who is wanted by police in connection with some unsavory dealings. Milland contracts malaria while onboard the ship and Todd nurses him back to health. In London, Todd settles into her home, taking in boarders to make ends meet. Milland arrives, moves in, and proclaims his love for her. Todd is thrilled, but it seems rather obvious that Milland is only toying with her. Milland finds some letters written to her by her friend, Fitzgerald, in which Fitzgerald reveals some of her sexual indiscretions. Since Fitzgerald is now married to the wealthy Huntley, Milland believes he can use the letters to blackmail Fitzgerald. Todd's love for Milland is so great that she goes along with the plan. Huntley, however, learns of the scheme and also uncovers details of Milland's shady past. Fearing for her lover's safety, Todd poisons Huntley, then remains silent when Fitzgerald is arrested for the murder. Milland has by now genuinely fallen in love with Todd and the two make plans to leave England. Before they can depart, one of Milland's former lovers shows up and Todd, in a jealous rage, kills Milland, then turns herself into the police. This is an intriguing film, although a little on the talky side. The performances are excellent throughout, with Milland shining as the cad, the type of role in which he excelled. Though he spent most of his time making films in the US, he occasionally returned to his native England for a production and this was his first British film since FRENCH WITHOUT TEARS in 1939. Director Allen was also an Englishman who chose to work in the US, this being his first directorial effort in his homeland. This was the fourth and last time Milland and Allen would work together, their pairing having begun in 1944 with the wonderfully eerie THE UNINVITED.
