Goldberg一家和其他幸福和睦的家庭没有什么区别，只是家里个个都是大嗓门。老妈Beverly（Wendi McClendon-Covey）是个典型的「老妈爱死你」。她在这家人中拥有绝对的「权威」，而且从来不知道什么叫「界限」，什么叫「底线」。不过她那些气势压人的做法归根结底是为了保护家人——如果他们不觉得那是「保护过度」的话。老爸Murray（Jeff Garlin）是个性格急躁、脾气很坏的人，长期以来奉行「不骂不成材」的为父之道……直到最近心脏健康方面的原因导致他再也不敢高声叫喊。大姐Erica（Hayley Orrantia）17岁了，性感、刁蛮，谁也招惹不起。老二Barry（Troy Gentile）今年16，典型的「高分低能」学生，而且或多或少有一点「排行中间综合症」。Adam虽然年纪最小，但却很有天赋，没准他今后真的能当一个大导演？但是他现在面临一个大问题：他迷恋着年纪比他大许多的Zoe（她已经15岁了！），而且根本无法与Zoe的同龄人「抗衡」！这个家庭中最后一名成员是德高望重的外公Al “Pops” Solomon www.bwudi.com（George Segal）——人说「老小老小」，他果然是家里最「淘气」的一位。他主动教导Adam「追女孩的诀窍」……毫无疑问，那绝不是好事。家家都有一本难念的经，Goldberg家的事情，谁又能说得清呢？
