这是Starz电视台将在2010年推出的史诗巨作，据称该剧拥有电影《斯巴达300壮士》的画面感、《角斗士》的真实感和剧集《罗马》的裸露程度，不禁令人讶异，如此“肆无忌惮”既是奠定男性观众群的筹码，但同时也是在挑战电视的承受尺度，能行吗？从目前的宣传片看来，油画般的画面、完全没有遮掩的血腥和性爱场面，的确令人期待。同时，《斯巴达克斯：血与沙》还未播出，就已经被Starz提前预定了两季的内容，这似乎在美剧历史上还不曾发生过，可见剧集的受关注度非常高。该剧讲述斯巴达克斯从奴隶变成英雄的血泪辛酸史，虽然这个故事已经家喻户晓，但斯巴达克斯是一个传奇，他的事迹从来不会令人乏味。
