本片根据真实案件改编。阿尔弗雷德·弗雷迪（安东尼·霍普金斯 Anthony Hopkins 饰）是世界著名啤酒巨头喜力啤酒的总裁，他因喜力啤酒而世界闻名。但是在1983年的三周里，他却因为另一事件闻名。因为在11月初，他遭到了绑架，并且和他的司机做了三个礼拜的人质。

The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 德西卡作品，此片秉承了意大利现实主义精髓，关注战后普通民生，剧情一波三折，演员演技精湛，镜头也十分讲究；一对相爱的小夫妻苦于无地可住（说明蜗居之苦，全世界各年代通用），在遭遇家庭排挤、投奔朋友无解、租房无望后，急中生智，充分利用丈夫的手艺行当，意欲在一夜之间令“江山大改”，虽最后紧急关头屋顶尚留一方空白，但结尾处警察的高抬贵手，给本片留下温馨余味；片名《屋顶》乃本片泉眼，处处着眼，并担当了屋子和家庭的象征。

《私人會所》的故事講述家境不佳大學生Milo（馮海銳飾）因好友巧盈（陳美伊飾）炒股失利，結果跟巧盈一起到仿如夜總會運作高級私人會所Balcony工作賺錢，在Joey媽（陳潔玲飾）的帶領下，與菲菲（湯加文飾）與Sabrina（鍾卓菲飾）每晚陪著客人。証券分析員 Steven（李任燊飾）在工作關係由富二代Lucas（麥子樂飾）帶到Balcony，並且認識了莊家倫爺（李凱賢飾）及阿傑（陳詠謙飾）。Stephen首次在Balcony便遇上首天工作的Milo，並且互相發展。考了經紀牌的巧盈則希望能讓陳傑開戶，而Lucas在不得志下卻對Joey媽有感，而倫爺卻對菲菲有其好感。不過在股場之下，卻隱藏著暗湧，影響眾人命運。
