艾尔巴的角色埃文斯被描述为“恶性自恋”，为引起女性的注意“不惜使用暴力”，申请保释被驳回后，他从押解车中逃出，来到昔日恋人家中报仇。报仇完毕，又在一片漆黑的雨夜，出现在了泰瑞家门口。泰瑞有两个孩子，丈夫外出未归，她好心想借电话给埃文斯一用，却不料让自己和孩子都陷入了险境之中。
